Family shop in the commercial heart of the city, few meters far from Portal de l'Angel. It opened in 1905 owned by the family Mañós Barrera. The second generation of owners, a childless woman, met the father of the current owner, Pere Alonso, artisan specialized in making leather gloves and supplier of the shop.

Since the beginning, the gloves were sold so, the lady did not hesitate to hand over the business to Pere Alonso, who followed the activity and that in turn, has continued her daughter and current owner, Ms. Victoria Alonso who confesses that she would like that the business will survive at least until her retirement.

The products marketed as gloves of all styles, fans, scarves, shawls, wallets, purses and hats, as well as a handbags, are accessories for women and men, being hand-made (leather, wood, hand painted wool ...) with a suitable quality / price ratio as, other part manufactured in Asian countries. She has to have both types of product because in her opinion, most customers no longer appreciate or do not provide fair value to craftsmanship or quality products, in a market full of low-cost products.

Most of the furniture is the original of the modernist period, but not the English three-leaf mirror with gilt frame: her husband gave her for their anniversary few years ago.

Look at the original door handles, the wood door and wooden gables also painted with the name of the store, as it was typical once. 

For few euros, you can buy a beautiful article or handmade gift in a century store.

The shop is open 10 hours a day, 6 days a week and Ms. Alonso speaks several languages ​​for personalized attention to all its customers, spending all the time that they needs. The human component is the most rewarding part of her job, as she said.

Negocio familiar en el corazón comercial de la ciudad a pocos metros del Portal de l’Àngel. Se inauguró en 1905 propiedad de la familia Mañós Barrera y la segunda generación de propietarios, una mujer sin hijos, conoció al padre de la actual propietaria, Pere Alonso, artesano especializado en hacer guantes de piel y proveedor de la tienda.

Desde sus inicios la tienda siempre fue guantería por lo que la señora no tuvo inconveniente en cederle el negocio a Pere Alonso, quien siguió la actividad y que a su vez, ha continuado su hija y actual propietaria, Victoria Alonso que me confiesa que le gustaría que el negocio sobreviva al menos hasta su jubilación.  Guantería Alonso

Los productos que comercializa como guantes de todos los estilos, abanicos, chales, mantones, carteras, monederos y sombreros, así como algún bolso de mano, son complementos para mujer y hombre, tanto artesanales (piel, madera, tela pintada a mano, lana…) con una relación calidad/precio adecuada, como alguna pieza fabricada en países orientales. Ha de tener ambos tipos de producto porque en su opinión, la mayor parte de clientes ya no aprecian o no otorgan el valor justo a los productos de artesanía o calidad, en un mercado inundado de productos de bajo coste.

La mayor parte del mobiliario es el original de la época modernista, pero no así el espejo inglés de tres hojas con marco dorado, que su marido le regaló para su aniversario hace unos años.

Fíjense en las manetas originales de las puertas, la puerta de entrada de madera y los frontones también de madera pintada con el nombre de la tienda, como se hacían antiguamente.

Por muy pocos euros pueden adquirir un bello artículo o regalo hecho a mano en un establecimiento centenario.

La tienda está abierta 10 horas al día, 6 días a la semana y la Sra. Alonso habla diversos idiomas, para una atención personalizada a todos sus clientes, a los que dedica todo el tiempo que cada uno requiere. El componente humano es la parte más gratificante de su trabajo según me comenta.
