New blog about the old shops in Barcelona

For years I came up with the idea of photographing the shops in Barcelona that I found on my way, while walking in my district and around the city before it was too late and they disappear.

I wanted to make a collection of photographs of old shops of the early twentieth century and also those built after that still host a business and human activity.

Since late 2013 when the owners of some stores in which a trading activity has endured for generations in the same family, had disproportionately increased the rents that applied to the activity developers, the idea of creating this blog and show pictures of these establishments has been reactivated, combining two passions: writing and photography.

In fact, since the spring of 2014, a Commission of the Barcelona’s City Hall has agreed for one year, the suspension of construction, installation or expansion permits in iconic establishments which are in the specific list of the City Hall, as a prior of a process of an urban special protection plan for such establishments.

This blog aims to show the old establishments and its charms; its history or the history of the activities that have hosted. It aims to give voice to their occupants. It is intended as a guide for local and foreign tourists that they want to find such old shops in Barcelona.

Good visit.
