Casa Planells

FONDA PAISA
Calle Sicilia, 196 (corner of Av. Diagonal, 332)
Colombian Kitchen

The first post of this blog is in the neighborhood of the Sagrada Familia and specifically in the basement of the Planells house. https://sites.google.com/site/barcelonamodernistaisingular/la-sagrada-familia---el-fort-pienc/casa-planells

As my parents explained to me, the local had intended to store carbon for the building built in 1923 by a disciple of  the modernist architect Antoni Gaudi, called Josep Maria Jujol i Gibert, until my parents used as a cellar restaurant for sixteen years. http://www.foroxerbar.com/viewtopic.php?t=7564

The space always for rent has gone through several hands after 1986 when my father close the activity. It has always hosted catering business, changing every time the interior layout of the elements.

Architect since 1906, Jujol is considered the most creative disciple of Gaudí, who was trained in the workshop of the Sagrada Familia. He was Professor of Drawing, Painting and Projects of the School of Architecture of Barcelona. He was one of the most qualified painters of that time along with Fortuny and Picasso.

The Planells House commissioned by the contractor Eveli Planells, is one of the works from his early period. External elements are protected because the building is listed by the council. Its windows have wrought iron grids and steps descending allow access to the place. Each plant has a single family apartment.

For seven years, the space is occupied by a tavern serving Mexican / Central American food.
