Under
the art nouveau
style, founded
and inaugurated by Josep Robert
I Soler the March
31, 1906, later
his son, Josep Robert i Mestre, inherits
it. In 1947 it
was bought by the pharmaceutical Maria
Ferrer i Argelaguet, and since then no reforms have been made "to
maintain the essence," says Mercè Ferrer. It
is a pharmaceutical business with tradition
that has aged well, preserving flawlessly the shelves, counter and
also the ceiling
of the establishment.
"I
think the neighbors appreciate this continuity",
says Ms. Ferrer. And they are so loyal to their past that
in the doors giving access to this
modernist gem, we
can still read the name of the old pharmacy.
The
farmacy keeps
inside all wooden shelves with rich decor inspired by nature as
well as the long counter (with ornaments on
its front) and
furniture where money is charged,
both dress the
public reception
room. Mainly stands Josep Vidal ceiling
with plaster moldings garlands and the
representation of a "trompe-l'oeil" temple.
Also
the floor,
of ancient
ceramic,
where the predominant colors are pink,
gray and green, attracts
the attention with its large
leaves and flowers.
